Doka Coffee Tour & Poás Volcano

Tour Description

As we ascend the mountain, you will notice changes in temperature and vegetation. Along the way, we will pass by coffee plantations, as well as fern, flower, and strawberry farms, creating a stunning display of colors and landscapes.

Itinerary
Visit to Doka Coffee Estate:

We begin the day with a delicious breakfast at Doka Coffee Estate. Afterward, we will take a guided tour of a working coffee plantation, where you will learn about the ancient techniques used by experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica and the world. The meticulous cultivation, harvesting, and roasting process of the Golden Bean will be demonstrated in an interactive way, followed by a tasting of this exquisite coffee.

Exploration of Poás Volcano:

After the coffee tour, we will continue to Poás Volcano National Park, where you will experience a noticeable change in temperature and the lush vegetation of the cloud forest.

The Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano that stands at 2,708 meters (8,885 feet) above sea level. Its impressive main crater measures over 1.6 km (1 mile) in diameter and 320 meters (1,050 feet) deep. The volcano has erupted more than 40 times since 1828, with its most recent activity recorded in April 2017.

At the park, we will have time to admire the stunning main crater, with its sulfur fumaroles, and take a short hike to the beautiful Botos Lagoon, where we will learn about the park’s diverse ecosystems.
